Guadalmina, located just west of San Pedro de Alcantara, is divided into two districts – Guadalmina Baja and Guadalmina Alta. Guadalmina is also the furthest point west of the region of Marbella. The Guadalmina River is what separates the two municipalities, Marbella and Estepona from each other with as well Arroyo del Chopo, a little water stream.
Guadalmina is bisected by the main A-7 coastal road leaving Guadalmina Alta on the mountainside of the road. The main commercial hub of Guadalmina is located in Guadalmina Alta, Guadalmina Centro Comercial, Centre, which forms the heart of this privileged community. The Centro Comercial boasts an array of delicious restaurants and tapas bar, some renown across Spain. Estate agents, lawyers, marketing agencies can be found here, amongst a wide range of other services including shops and boutiques. Many of the establishments have been existing for many years and are great meeting places for returning visitors with holiday homes in the area as well as locals.
This community attracts many famous Spanish people especially from the north, who are looking to enjoy a peaceful holiday at their second home among long-term friends. Aznar, the ex-prime minister of Spain and Vicente Del Bosque, the ex-manager of the Spanish national football team are some of the well-known characters you come across now and again, sitting, enjoying a nice meal in one of the restaurants in the Centro Comercial de Guadalmina.
Guadalmina Alta is also home to the golf course Guadalmina Norte which runs through this area with some wonderful apartments, townhouses and villas around it, offering spectacular golf views. The clubhouse is also based in this area and several prestigious tournaments have taken place here, most recently the Spanish Ladies Open, which was happily won by a local player, Azahara Muñoz.
